Hello, my Name is Michael Teelen and I am an Audio Engineer from Germany.
From an early age on, I was fascinated by Movies, Games and other media, for example, radio plays. To dive into new Universes and Adventures, experiencing fantastic Worlds or reliving the journey of a hero, it was always more than “just” watching or playing something.
Audio played a major role in that experience. I was amazed by the possibilities Sound Design provided. From amplifying what is happening on the screen to underlining new Worlds, that don’t even exist, with Sound.
I realized that Years of consuming all those beautiful Movies and Games, created a hunger to work in this field, to create immersive Worlds through the power of Sound and let audiences experience those Worlds. And so I started my Education in Audio Engineering and Sound Design.
This Education brought me together with people working and having passion in different fields. Especially my work with musicians was an enrichening experience. Becoming good at Miking Instruments, working in Professional Studio Environments with Analog and Digital Consoles, Composing, Mixing and Mastering Music, are all things I deeply enjoy.
Over the years I also picked up Audio Programming which opened up a new field in which I really like to spend time in. I love giving my Sounds a certain Logic and making sure they work in every way possible or being as economical as I can, while creating an amazing Sound Design.
Talking about Sound Design…
I LOVE recording SFX and Foley. I enjoy being in the Nature, recording Atmospheres or simply playing in the dirt and catching it with a Microphone. I am always looking for something to add to my Sample Library. I also aspire to be a good Foley Artist. I enjoy “performing” Sounds a lot. The direct connection between what is happening on the screen and how to move or how to make two objects interact with each other, to create a certain Sound, fascinates me.
